14-15-16th century
The collection of 14th-, 15th- and 16th-century paintings on panel are interesting expressions of Gothic and Mannerism. Besides a small work from Siena, the other panels have Flemish, Brabantine or German origins. The scenes painted on panel visualize Biblical stories and stimulated the devotion of the faithful. Some works were intended for an altar in a church, others for personal devotion at home. Some of the works depict the patrons.
